Question: if I buy today (11/1) will the stock will be in my name for Friday’s x-dividend date? Or do I need to have bought it yesterday so the transaction will clear by the x-div date?
Thanks for any clarification- I’m just learning (and won’t buy until I know).

Yes, you must own the stock by ex-div date to get the dividend.
