Corus Bankshares will pay a special dividend of $1.00 on August 1 to holders as of Monday, July 16. That’s 5.8% of the share price of $17.260. The dividend will be paid out of existing assets. Corus is considering more special cash dividends before December 2010, when tax rates on dividends will rise from their current 15 percent.

    “when tax rates on dividends will rise from their current 15 percent.” - Does anyone know the facts behind this statement? (is there known information that tax rates will rise about 15% after 2010?)
