Redwood Trust, a financial REIT, will pay a special dividend of $2.000 on Dec 7th to holders as of Thursday, November 22. That’s 6.9% of the share price of $28.920. Redwood’s 2007 dividend will be mostly taxed as earning dividend, with the balance as return of capital dividend. The company will distribute information on the tax composition of its 2007 dividends in January. RWT already paid two $3 per share dividend last year. The company also set a fourth quarter regular cash dividend of 75 cents a share, payable on Jan. 22, exdiv on Dec. 27. RWT is extending its buyback program and just announced a much smaller lost than feared.
